1. Issue being debated is referred to as "topic" or "question."

2. The team arguing in favor of the question is the Affirmative.

3. The team arguing against the question is called the Negative.

4. Address all your remarks through the Moderator.

5. Teams can role- play (represent an interest group, etc.)

6. Debaters shall treat each other with respect. Judges shall penalize debaters guilty of rudeness or brow-beating.

7. Heckling is allowed.

8. No points of order or personal privilege may be raised during the debate. Debaters will have an opportunity to address rule violations at the end of the debate.

9. Points of information are allowed, if the debater who holds the floor agrees. The moderator should maintain control. Questions must be short!

10. No points of information during rebuttals.
